The weather is getting a little balmier —spring has begun, and our skin is ready to be done with dry winter weather. As we well know, when the seasons change, our skin makes sure to let us know it needs some extra care. This is an ideal time to give yourself a facial and use a hair mask to rejuvenate yourself and feel ready for the spring weather.
Transition Into Spring
Now that our skin is transitioning into spring climate, you’ll notice it may be flakier than usual; it needs a little extra care.
You can see a beauty professional for face and body spa treatments, or you can do at-home treatments to reinvigorate yourself. Make sure you don’t try any treatments that are best done by a professional on your own. There are plenty of safe ways to care for our complexion at home and products that are easy to use.
Remember to Exfoliate
We’ve talked about it before, but it’s important to remember to exfoliate your skin. Exfoliating allows you to remove flakey, dull skin, reviving both your complexion and body. You will feel so much better after sloughing, and you will be better able to absorb moisturizers.
Look into spa treatments or at-home products that will feed your skin what it needs. Spa treatments can be tailored for your skin type and needs, using ingredients and products you will love. Getting a beauty professional to help give you customized care for your body allows for a more intensive therapeutic experience, but can be on the costly side.
Doing at-home treatments requires a bit of research to make sure you find safe ingredients to use in DIY facials along with patch tests or purchasing products you feel comfortable using. This is true for your hair as well. While your hair itself wouldn’t have an adverse reaction to products or ingredients, your scalp definitely could.
Facials for the Spring
Depending on your skin type, you will need to use specific products or get different treatments. We have listed some inspiration for you here:
- Dry-Sensitive Skin – Try finding a facial or face peel with mild fruit enzymes, because they are lighter and therefore easier to tolerate. Fruit enzymes from papaya are wound healing, while kiwi fruit enzymes are beneficial due to their antimicrobial and antioxidant qualities. These are just two examples of the benefits of fruit enzyme facials.
- Normal Skin – Those lucky enough to have normal skin, meaning little to no blemishes, fine pores, and a rosy complexion, can use any products you would like to try. Not having any sensitivities or skin conditions leaves the door open to be a little more adventurous when it comes to ingredients.
Just because you have normal skin doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve some attention. Try vitamin c brightening facials. They will help keep your skin tone even and combat aging spots as you get older.
- Combination Skin – The tricky thing about combination skin is that it needs a little bit of everything. Some parts are dry, others are normal, and some of it is oily. This means that in some areas it’s flaky, and in others, you might have some acne. So, what facial options do you have?
You can also benefit from fruit enzyme facials, as well as chemical peels or microdermabrasion that are performed by beauty professionals.
- Oily Skin – Having oily skin means you are creating an excess of sebum. Sebum can be affected by hormones, foods we eat, and certain medical conditions, among other factors.
If you have oily skin, a great rejuvenating option is clarifying facials. Clarifying facials will help unclog pores, reduce excess oil, and reduce skin redness. When you get a clarifying facial done by a beauty professional, you can expect to have a lymphatic drainage massage, which will alleviate any toxin buildup in your skin that causes bacteria retention.
Hair From Winter to Spring
Much like your complexion, winter weather does some serious damage to your hair too. You will notice that from your scalp and roots, and from your roots to your ends, your hair also needs special care. There are a lot of hair treatments you can use. We even formulated one here at ScissorsCut.
Dry hair is the biggest complaint during winter and into the beginning of spring, followed by flakes. Caviar oil is an ingredient we are big fans of due to its strengthening and restorative qualities and because it brings moisture back into the hair. This is why we included 100% Orange Caviar in our Botox Caviar Hair Treatment; other ingredients include Collagen, Panthenol, Keratin, Hyaluronic-acid, among other miraculous components.
Additional ingredients to look for in hair treatment products that will nourish your strands include:
- Avocado Oil – Using avocado oil helps protect hair from environmental damage, such as pollution, sunlight, and seasonal changes. Avocado oil or products that include avocado oil will help protect the shaft and strands and keep them moisturized.
- Mango Butter – The vitamins in mango butter are great when it comes to locking in moisture and preventing scalp irritation and flaking. Because mango butter helps skin repair and heal, if your scalp has been irritated due to temperature and weather changes, it will do wonders for you.
- Tea Tree Oil – Some of us get dandruff seasonally and need a hair mask that tackles this particular issue. Any formulation with 5% tea tree oil in your hair mask, will surely help you combat unwanted dandruff issues and feel revived.
- Shea Butter – An ingredient you simply cannot go wrong with is shea butter, it will help prevent hair breakage, will moisturize it, and additionally will help with any irritation.
- Sea Buckthorn – Sea buckthorn oil contains lipids, or fats, that can remove excess oil from hair, which is why it’s often an ingredient in shampoos.
No matter what products you use or if you do it yourself or have a beauty professional give you the treatments you want, make sure that you pamper yourself and give your skin and hair the care they need.
